Survivor Ventures Awarded $241,500 to Expand Reentry Housing and Crisis Shelter for Trafficking Survivors

Survivor Ventures is honored to announce that we have been awarded $241,500 through the Virginia Housing Trust Fund Homeless Reduction Grants to support our FY26 Reentry Home for Trafficking Survivors. This funding represents a meaningful investment in survivor-centered housing solutions and will allow us to continue expanding services for individuals transitioning out of trafficking and exploitation.

The funding was announced as part of a statewide initiative led by Abigail Spanberger, allocating $14 million across Virginia to support housing programs that reduce homelessness and strengthen pathways to stability. Through the Virginia Housing Trust Fund, these investments support permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, and innovative projects designed to reach underserved and vulnerable populations.

At Survivor Ventures, safe and stable housing is a critical component of recovery and long-term success for survivors of human trafficking. Many survivors leave trafficking situations with limited resources, few support systems, and immediate housing instability. Without access to safe shelter, individuals exiting exploitation face significant barriers to rebuilding their lives.

This grant will allow Survivor Ventures to continue and strengthen our reentry programming, particularly through our crisis shelter services, which provide a safe and supportive environment for survivors facing homelessness or housing insecurity. Our crisis shelter model ensures that when a survivor is ready to leave exploitation, there is a place where they can access safety, stabilization, and compassionate support.

Through this funding, Survivor Ventures will be able to:

  • Sustain crisis shelter placements for survivors who need urgent housing and safety

  • Provide reentry support services that help participants stabilize and navigate the next stages of recovery

  • Expand the impact of our housing program, helping survivors transition from crisis stabilization into longer-term housing solutions

  • Strengthen partnerships with community providers that support mental health, holistic care, workforce development, and long-term stability

Housing is more than a roof overhead. For survivors, safe housing creates the foundation needed to focus on healing, rebuilding independence, and establishing long-term security. When individuals have a stable place to live, they are better positioned to access healthcare, pursue employment or education, reconnect with supportive communities, and move forward with dignity and empowerment.

Survivor Ventures’ housing initiatives are designed to meet survivors where they are in their journey. From immediate crisis shelter to long-term stabilization, our programs prioritize survivor safety, autonomy, and holistic care. This investment will allow us to continue strengthening these pathways and expanding our ability to serve those in need.

We are deeply grateful to the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Virginia Housing Trust Fund for recognizing the importance of housing as a key component in addressing both homelessness and human trafficking. Their support allows organizations like Survivor Ventures to build sustainable solutions that empower survivors and create lasting community impact.

As we continue this work, we remain committed to ensuring that every survivor who reaches out for help has access to safety, support, and the opportunity to rebuild their life on their own terms.
