Survivor Ventures Awarded $5,000 Unrestricted Grant from Norfolk Southern’s Hampton Roads Community Fund

We are thrilled to announce that Survivor Ventures has been selected as a grant recipient of Norfolk Southern’s Hampton Roads Community Foundation Grant Program, receiving a $5,000 unrestricted contribution in recognition of the meaningful work we are doing to empower survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

This award is especially significant because it is unrestricted funding, providing the flexibility to address survivor needs that often fall outside traditional grant parameters. Survivors frequently face unexpected challenges on their path to recovery, from emergency housing needs and transportation barriers to access to holistic care and other essential resources. With unrestricted funding, Survivor Ventures can respond quickly and effectively, ensuring that survivors have the support they need, when they need it most.

“This kind of support is invaluable,” said one staff member “It allows us to go beyond the limits of conventional grants and meet survivors where they are, whether that’s providing emergency assistance, connecting them with vital services, or supporting them in achieving their long-term goals.”

Norfolk Southern’s Hampton Roads Community Fund recognizes organizations making a real difference in the region, and this award highlights the impact of Survivor Ventures’ survivor-led, trauma-informed programs. From housing stability and financial empowerment through our Survivors to Entrepreneurs program, to career training and holistic care, every aspect of our work is designed to help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity, independence, and confidence.

We are deeply grateful to Norfolk Southern and the Hampton Roads Community Fund for their generous contribution and for believing in the power of survivor-led innovation. Support like this strengthens our ability to expand services, respond to urgent needs, and continue building pathways to healing and self-sufficiency for survivors throughout the Hampton Roads region.
